Ship-To-Store Security

The Ship-To-Store software system is accessed by a controlled security file set up by the individual client. An employees security is set not only to access the system, but to process different sections in the software. So, one employee could have access to all the areas of the system and another could only have access to selling product. This way accounting and payroll can have limited access and the information and updates to the purchased inventory can be access by the buyers. STS also only allows three tries to enter the initials and password to access the system. When the three tries are done the system will make the individual start over. This makes it more difficult for a unauthorized person to sign on the the software, therefore another program outside the STS cannot be used to sign on to the system.

STS allows the client to choose at anytime the security options of any employee. This options take effect as soon as the option is choosen and is independent of any network system. Passwords can be changed at anytime by the employee or by management.

There are two fields associated with program security, a three character initials field, and a five character password field. The initials field has to be unique, so when a roger smith and a robert simpson will have access to the programs one can have the initials of 'RS ' and the other has to be 'RS?', 'R?S', or '?RS'. Where the ? is any key including a space. The password field can be any five characters which with a regular keyboard gives the employee over a billion combinations, which makes it difficult to guest the password. The system presently has one sign on screen and 208 menu screens.
