Ship-To-Store Inventory

Inventory is the most important consideration for a growing company and Ship-To-Store controls every item and every pound with complete accuracy. Inventory is controlled in several different ways according to the information and processing the client needs to make decisions and to control waste.

Inventory quantities and prices are updated by several methods and each of these methods are security protected by the individual client management. Purchasing, selling and processing are principle ways to update quantities and prices, but other management controls exist. Updating quantities and prices through purchases and sales will be described in their individual sections.

Inventory items are defined by the client and do not have a limit to the number of items that can be available. The information that is maintained on each inventory item can be viewed by clicking on the Software Demo folder at this web site, then click viewing software, then click "B" Inventory, then click "A" Inquire Inventory, "B" Add Inventory, "C" Change Inventory, or "D" Delete Inventory will display the information that is kept by the individual item. The required information to identify any inventory item is the Inventory Item code, the Description, the Type, and the Quantity Per Unit. The software system maintains the Quantity on Hand, the Quantity on Order, the Outside Storage quantity, the Last Cost, the Average Cost, and the Quantity for Processing as the inventory item is bought, sold or processed. The other information fields are so the client can better manage the individual inventory item as their needs require. This information is the current overall status of an item and the detailed activity is kept in different databases so that the software can provide information about inventory for any period of time in various combinations.

Inventory can be processed or maintained in the following methods: Transfer inventory from one item to another without changing the purchase tickets or processing data, Culling Inventory when purchasing in tubs or large lots at mixed sizes is more profitable, Cutting/Processing Inventory when one or more inventory items can be made from a single item, Freezing Inventory when the item has to be held for a period of time before selling or processing it, Finished product when a value added product has multiple ingredients, and Multiple Finished Products when multiple items and/or value added products has one or more ingredients. The software updates inventory quantities and cost as soon as these processes are entered into the system and can make these quantities available to the sales staff immediately.

The software system can control outside storage of inventory items. The software will kept track of what inventory is stored, where the inventory is stored, the lot number from the storage company, the lot number when tracked by the system, the quantity that is stored at each location and lot number, and the date the item went to outside storage. The outside storage section of the software can be used to store inventory in different freezers owned by the client. The software will also allow the client to enter future sales from outside storage locations. This way companies can sell items from outside storage that will be picked up or delivered at a future date and also give the storage location the ability to fill the order with the oldest product from one or more lots.

Trip ticket or landing information is done automatically when purchased from fishermen or fishing vessels when this option is turned on in the system controls. The reporting is done with just a few key strokes. The system will keep track of all landing information and makes it available for viewing at anytime, by date, by vessel, by species, by gear, or by water body.

The software keeps track of all processing by lot numbers when this option is turned on in the system controls. The software will track all lots on where the inventory was purchased, where the inventory was sold, and the profitability of each individual lot. Imagine the controls that can be made in pricing and purchase decisions when the profit can be determined on items that where purchased from different locations. This is another way to make sure inventory is sold or processed and not taken from the company.

The software will allow customers and brokers to purchase inventory over the telephone directly. The client has the ability to choose the inventory to be sold, what price for the inventory, the security of customers and brokers to access the on-line sales. The software will keep track of who called and view the inventory and prices, when they called, and when they purchased. This will allow the client to stop access at anytime to anyone accessing on-line sales. Also, the software only allows the call in customers and brokers to view only the items that have been set for sale on-line and nothing else.
